#SeatAtTheTable (Ep 19)

Episode 19

This one hit close to home. In this episode, I sit down with my good friend Susan Miraftabi, and we crack open that familiar, messy topic: having a seat at the table. Susan doesn’t just talk theory — she’s lived it, across startups and global giants, sometimes pulled in, sometimes pushed out, but always showing up with her sleeves rolled.

🔗 Finding the Right Seat (and Knowing When to Leave It)

This one hit close to home. In this episode, I sit down with my good friend Susan Miraftabi, and we crack open that familiar, messy topic: having a seat at the table. Susan doesn’t just talk theory — she’s lived it, across startups and global giants, sometimes pulled in, sometimes pushed out, but always showing up with her sleeves rolled.

We talk about the difference between being invited to the table because you’re truly valued, versus being parked there for show. Susan shares what it really takes to earn your seat and keep it warm: curiosity about the business (beyond your job title), building real relationships (not networking for the sake of networking), asking better questions, and knowing exactly when to push, when to pull, and when to walk away entirely.

What I love about Susan’s approach is her mindset of abundance — she’s not chasing seats. She’s serving where she’s needed most. And funny enough, that’s exactly what gets her the seat.

If you’ve ever wondered why some people get to the table and fumble, while others thrive — this is the episode you need.
